Restorative dentistry is focused on repairing or replacing teeth. The goal of restorative treatment is to improve oral health and chewing function. Restorative treatment may be needed if you have cavities, tooth decay, damaged/broken teeth, or missing teeth.
A tooth extraction is a procedure to remove a tooth from the gum socket. Local anesthetic is used to numb the area around the tooth so that you do not experience pain during the procedure. The tooth is loosened in the gum using an elevator, a tool used to dislodge a tooth from its socket.
Whitening can be done in-office or at home, using at-home teeth bleaching kits. In-office teeth whitening uses bleaching solutions that are stronger than at-home kits. The procedure may use heat, light, or a combination of the two to speed up and intensify the whitening process.
Dental implants are a surgical procedure executed using titanium-metal, screw-like posts. It replaces damaged or a missing tooth with artificial teeth intended to function like real ones.
Modern day teeth aligners are a clear, thin, plastic-like tray that are formed to fit an individual's teeth. Patients are responsible for putting in and removing their aligners. A series of aligners is created to move teeth. Each aligner is worn for a minimum of 2 weeks, almost 22 hours a day, moving teeth a fraction of a millimeter at at a time. Not only do aligners help with occlusal alignment but overall oral health.
